Joan participates in and leads industry activities that seek to expand the sustainability potential of electronic and software products. Her work is featured in the book "Saving the World at Work" by Tim Sanders. Most recently, she served on the Steering Committee of SMARTer 2030: ICT Solutions for 21st Century Challenges, and previously, Evaluating the Carbon-reducing Impacts of ICT: an assessment methodology and The SMART 2020 - U.S. Addendum Report (all available at www.GeSI.org). These groundbreaking analyses demonstrate information and communication technology's ability to enable our transformation to a low carbon economy. Joan also serves on the International Program Committee for CARE Innovations (Vienna, Austria), a symposium devoted to the creation of green electronics and on the Senior Advisory Board of the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition. In 2005, she was elected to the Fellows of the American Bar Association for service to the legal community.

General Manager of Safety, Compliance and Sustainability @ Joan Krajewski is responsible for establishing and managing multi-national policies and programs across electronic product and packaging lines in Microsoft for environmental; factory environmental, health and safety; electromagnetic compatibility, radio frequency, and product safety compliance; and counseling business groups on domestic and international environmental and product and employee safety regulatory requirements, operating procedures, administrative actions, and transactions. She manages international teams of compliance engineers, policy analysts and auditors, responsible for supporting these programs in EMEA, Asia, and the Americas.
Regulatory specialties include, but are not limited to, the REACH, RoHS, EuP and WEEE directives, e-waste, and CSPSIA.
She also directs global product sustainability through Supply Chain and Manufacturing Social and Environmental Accountability and Design for Green programs and serves on the Board of the Global e-Sustainability Initiative (GeSI), a global partnership of ICT companies that promotes technologies for sustainable development and the Senior Advisory Board of the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition.
