I love tools and technology. I love creating things. Physical objects with machine fabrication, blacksmithing, or circuit design. Or on my computer with software for controlling web applications, process automation, or just about anything I want to have fun with. I contribute to the Free Software community with the packaging ZFS for Arch Linux and contributing to the Arch Linux Wiki. I share all of my source code on Github freely. I enjoy setting up home automation for managing my families digital existence at home. Cooking great food and grilling on the BBQ fills in the rest.
Linux System Administrator @ Administer local IT infrastructure including PBX system and virtual server environments. Manage and deploy to systems on Amazon Web Services. Automate server deployments using Ansible. Platform deployment using Linux Container technologies (docker). MongoDB and MySQL/MariaDB administration. Platform load testing using "The Grinder" and custom tests written in the Go programming language. TLS certificate management, SSH public key authentication, and general IT security. Nginx configuration and management (proxy server). From July 2014 to May 2015 (11 months) Prototype Machinist @ Designed and implemented complex fixture for "second operation" prototype machining of one-of-a-kind parts for the semiconductor and night vision systems. Fabricated custom cutting tools for cutting hardened steel on a tool room lathe. Operated and ran a Mazak Horizontal Machining Center with pallet loading system. Created custom "post processors" for leading CNC CAM software including: Geopath, Esprit, and SurfCam.
Designed a GCode program loading interface using commodity hardware and free software for loading programs over RS-232 interfaces on archaic machine control hardware.
Modified machinery in clean room environment. Extracted broken hardware from installed machinery, including case hardened pins and bushings. Fabricated custom fixtures for modifying extremely delicate semiconductor equipment in a clean room environment. From April 2004 to February 2014 (9 years 11 months)
