Identifying customer problems and designing engaging products to solve them is my idea of fun. The bigger, gnarlier the problem the better. My own company, EcoLek LLC aims solve the problem of environmental degradation by plugging people back to their natural world using mobile technology. Keeping people engaged with the natural world requires utility, social engagement and fun. We've started turning the real world into Pokemon with Birdeez for iPhone, launched in 2012.
I've also explored a vacuum in the social media space, a social network for creating and sharing short snippets of audio called Fonogram. I pitched the idea, assembled and lead a team at Startup Weekend Santa Barbara that built a prototype in a weekend, and released a beta to the iPhone after spending a few more weekends on the project.
I've helped several organizations rethink their web strategy and either built or initiated and managed the construction of several websites based on organizational needs. At the County of Santa Barbara I lead the creation of a Yelp-like recycling website at LessIsMore.org. For the Santa Barbara Audubon Society I built them a new website based on their members needs and the organizations goals. I've also built beautiful and mobile first websites for several academic groups and authors after understanding their needs and defining their strategy.
Recently transplanted to Boston, I'm looking to continue my journey by working for more experienced entrepreneurs and building software products that really change the world.
