I have eight years of experience in Software Development while working in the Oil and Gas Industry. I am a passionate employee and am at my best working with a dedicated group of people solving interesting and difficult problems.
My enjoyment for work is derived from working on and finding resolution to both technical and customer centered issues. The thrill of that eureka moment when solving a difficult technical problem and the satisfaction of working directly with the client and finding the best solution to their problems is what keeps me motivated.
My professional career has afforded me a background that has enabled me to work with all aspects of the professional workplace including product management, sales, quality assurance, development and manufacturing.
Intermediate Software Developer, Build and Componentization Team @ I was an integral member of the Build and Componentization team which was focused on developing and improving our build infrastructure for the largest product team at Pason. This work was primarily Groovy and Java development within our existing Gradle build system and involved improvements to our Artifactory integration and jar signing process.
One of my other key items of work was spent analyzing automated testing deficiencies in our code and ways to improve their capabilities. Both in terms of developer training improvements and build tool support. From February 2015 to May 2015 (4 months) Trial Prime, VSP Project @ As the Trial Prime I was responsible for planning, organizing and executing the trial of a complex Networking, Hardware and Software device suite to the Rigsite. To successfully accomplish this I worked closely with Developers, Field Technicians, Technical Writing and Technical Support groups within Pason while simultaneously giving status reports to and integrating feedback from Product Owners, Sales, Supply Chain Specialists and the VSP Project Lead.
During the course of the trial I was involved in multiple trips to the rigsite to assist with installation and debugging of both hardware and software and worked closely with our customers to ensure they understood the changes we were making and they were satisfied with our efforts.
I lead our product to a successful conclusion of its trial and subsequent rollout to over 400 rigs and received a commendation from the VP, Canadian Operations for my work. From August 2013 to November 2014 (1 year 4 months) Integration Prime, VSP Project @ The VSP project was a major undertaking for Pason Systems and involved a relatively large development team across varying disciplines. This project served two primary focuses; first to replace the network infrastructure at the rigsite and also to provide a replacement for our on site server.
As the Integration Prime I was coordinated with Hardware, Software, Networking and QA groups to ensure our new product development team was efficient and our end product was successfully deployed to the field.
I effectively communicated with different teams about their current status; drafted delivery schedules for software and hardware to coordinate deployment to QA; managed our in-house store of hardware in alpha and beta states to ensure everyone had the appropriate hardware to work on and worked closely with our third party firmware vendors to help ensure they met our criteria for delivery.
In parallel I was also working in a 2 man team on a Java and Python based Product that was responsible for monitoring the firmware and configuration on a number of networking devices and updating them if needed. From November 2012 to November 2013 (1 year 1 month) Intermediate Software Developer @ I took a leadership role in delivering key projects to completion; either working individually or as a member of a team I was responsible for reporting to our Project Leads and ensuring successful end to end delivery of our final solution.
Key projects worked on include delivery of support for a Hardware device to integrate with the rest of the Pason system at the rigsite written in C++ and Java, upgrading our build system and software to run an up to date version of Java (this work involved in some cases significant refactoring), as well as a number of smaller scale projects mostly in Java and MySQL.
I also mentored new developers to Pason by introducing them to our work environment and helping them with design and implementation issues. From January 2011 to November 2012 (1 year 11 months) Software Developer @ Over my first 4 years at Pason I worked on a variety of software, hardware, and build systems projects. This work included design, implementation, schedule planning, testing, delivery, and support.
I learned quickly to deliver a quality product in a timely manner while ensuring sufficient testing; especially automated testing is accomplished.
Primary technologies during this time utilized were Java, MySQL, and C++. From May 2007 to January 2011 (3 years 9 months)
