Led, defined and implemented long and short-term design strategy and creative vision, provided guidance to the team across Europe to ensure all cross-platform digital products meet and maintain the highest standards of brand consistency, creative quality and guest experience.
Established and led an interdepartmental programme entitled ‘Ideas Lab’ driving forward creative culture within the company creating a catalyst for the design and development of digital products. The programme continues to be central in the generation of creative concepts and prototypes in areas such as music, movies, interactive TV and gaming with the aim of delivering successful commercial products for the business. 100 schools across the UK took part in BIMA Digital-Day (D-Day), an initiative created by BIMA to introduce school-age children to the possibility of embarking on a career in digital.
Supported by leading digital agencies from across the UK including DigitasLBi, SapientNitro, Redweb, Weapon7, Amaze and McCann Manchester, it is one of BIMA’s key aims to promote, educate and encourage more young people to consider digital careers. Aiming to emphasize the increasing diversification of roles and the variety of backgrounds that recruits can come from. Within a year the company became an award-winning creative studio, ranking for the first time in the top 50 design companies by Design Week, top 100 agencies by NMA and top 100 agencies by The Drum. Also recognised by being one of only 30 studios to be invited onto the BBC’s Digital Design roster.
Continually drove on-going new business initiatives, working with existing clients and developing new high-profile collaborations. Project wins included Channel 4’s The Million Pound Drop, Strictly Come Dancing, BBC Radio 2, Crimewatch, BBC Lab UK, Tracy Beaker, Newsround, The Royal Academy of Music and Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew. Firmly establishing Pancentric Digital’s market presence in the media and culture sectors. From 2009 to 2011 (2 years) London, United KingdomCreative Director, User Experience & Design @ Creative direction and user experience design leadership of all digital output across non-linear platforms for the CBeebies and CBBC channels, defining and directing the entire digital design strategy and vision for the highly successful multi-platform re-brand of CBBC and new look CBeebies websites and red button services. In collaboration with the brand and marketing team, CBBC was delivered in 12 weeks from concept to completion achieving a 30% increase of unique users in the initial three month period with over 2 million weekly visits at its peak. CBeebies continued to grow and reached 1 million unique weekly users in the first three months of launch, a 20% increase.
Creative consultant for the then newly formed ‘Indie Unit’ within the Drama, Entertainment and Knowledge department, collaborating with in-house and 3rd party TV production teams, design studios and editorial departments. Worked closely with the programme development teams encouraging 360º thinking and partnerships to create additional multiplatform interactive content to complement the traditional TV format.
Key member of the BBC User Experience and Design steering group. Instrumental in defining, developing and influencing the first BBC global visual language for user interface design across all digital platforms. From 2007 to 2009 (2 years) London, United KingdomDeputy Creative Director @ Responsible for all of the creative output produced by the e-learning team, delivering a number of award- winning products including the creative direction and hands on design of a series of Warner Bros. Looney Tunes educational games and multiple BBC Jam digital curriculum propositions. Defining in-depth solutions to user requirements and learning objectives via storyboarding, wireframing and prototyping.
Shaped the design department, recruiting and supporting team members and assisted in the day-to-day management of the studio, project planning and scheduling of creative resource.
