I began at TrainSignal - an online IT training company - in 2007 with just 10 other employees and a forecast of $2.3MM in revenue for the year. I was quickly promoted to Director of Sales & Support, then Director of Sales & Marketing, and finally to President in 2012.
I soon hired our first-ever Director of Technology who assembled our 22-person team of skilled developers, designers and QA. With this as our backbone, I moved forward with creating a marketing/customer acquisition plan to transform our business model from DVDs to a subscription-based model so that IT professionals could stream courses online for a low monthly price.
That's when things really started to happen. At this point, TrainSignal had become a 55-person team and a one-stop shop for CTOs and CIOs alike.
By 2012 we were generating $7.4MM in revenue and on pace to hit over $10MM in 2013.
With growth like that we made Inc. Magazine's “Fastest Growing Companies In America” list six years in a row. Developer training platform Pluralsight took notice and in August 2013, they acquired us for a sum of $23.6MM as they poised to take over the technical online education market.
