I have also competed a short term contract at JD Sports where my initial contract was extended and I stayed for 6 weeks prior to taking up the role at First Internet which is coming to an end in April. Over the next few years, I am looking to focus on coding to further hone my skills and increase the breadth of my knowledge. I am not looking for full time roles, however, I am very keen to speak to people about any project with a Marketing Focus.

📖 Summary
Hello, My name is Gareth Chidgey. I am a 32 year old married father of three daughters, and I build PHP based websites and software applications. I have worked in the industry for over a decade, and have tried my hand at many things including agency management, project and account management and marketing. But do you know what, after trying that great variety… I’m best suited to working hard to produce high quality websites and applications using modern, best practice code. I have extensive and varied technical knowledge gained primarily as a web designer/ developer and further whilst researching the many client projects I have worked on over the years. I use a wide range of communication tools to help create visual and written technical presentations. I am at my best delivering PHP based development work within a team or individually. I am a confident, friendly, family man, happily married for 10 years with three gorgeous daughters and close family ties. During my free time, I spend as much time as possible with the family, I also follow Formula 1 and Sale Sharks in Rugby Union. Whilst I am most comfortable working as a PHP developer, I have just finished a four month contract as stand-in Managing Director for First Internet Marketing in Hale. From May 2012 to Present (3 years 8 months) Stockport, United KingdomDigital Director/ Stand-in Managing Director (Contract) @ I look after the business from a holistic overall management perspective, with my hands in every pot. I am looking to help drive the business into the next stage in it's growth, I am looking at marketing and structure to allow for the expected growth over the next 2-3 years. I am also looking at expanding the services offered to our existing extensive client base and to bring those into new business' around the country. From November 2012 to March 2013 (5 months) Digital Director @ I am responsible for the digital arm of the business, which accounts for between 70% and 80% of the revenue generated within the business. I answer to the Managing Director and sole owner of the business and am targeted on revenue generated, job profitability and staff utilisation. I am responsible for managing the digital team as well as project planning, strategy, client relationships, outsourcing relationships, project analysis, studio management, SEO strategy, QA, account management, internal IT and communications and play a part in financial planning, operations and legal. With regards to my KPI’s, there are four staff taking interest in new business, it is normal for my sales both to existing and new clients to be two thirds of overall new business. In the last six months of 2011, my projects ran £1,700 up overall, with a target of within £20,000 or 10%. I have managed projects ranging from £250 - £100,000 during my time at Ahoy, working on a variety of B2B and B2C projects across most sectors. My primary focus is medium sized enterprises who have enough budget to make the job worthwhile for the agency to be able to showcase, whilst not being so large that internal resource is tied up for months at a time. This approach seems to have been extremely profitable for the agency leading to substantial growth in the last year. I am extremely proud that we have been nominated for 8 RAR awards this year, and whilst this is a joint effort, I was pleased that in the client feedback that went into these nominations, I was mentioned often in a positive light. From February 2011 to May 2012 (1 year 4 months) Head of Online Marketing @ In my second stint client side, I answered to the Chairman of the Board and looked after the entire online campaign for two years in total. The first year was during my previous role as Managing Director of my own agency Push Internet Ltd. When I took over, there was no online marketing taking place. MPG had two websites, which had been recored as delivering no revenue since they were developed 2 years previously. In 12 months I transformed the websites, the SEO and PPC to a point where the websites were generating in excess of £800,000 of new business per annum. This was done on a relatively small budget compared to the main competition. As the time in this role progressed, I took on an outsource team in Pakistan and a web designer to spread the load. Unfortunately, little remains of the work I completed in this time and the company is not generating the same levels from online business according to former colleagues. I was targeted on a number of KPI’s, however, the most significant of these was to achieve the largest amount of new business as possible. From September 2009 to February 2011 (1 year 6 months) Managing Director @ Following the financial collapse of my previous employers business due to the housing crash in late 2008 and early 2009, I propositioned my employers as to the viability of going into business together to set up a digital agency. After a careful three months of planning, I wound up my own company which I had run in addition to my day job for the previous few years and we founded Push together. My partners were experienced business people and had previously built an impressive business based on now established techniques which were in their infancy at the time. We grew to an agency of six in quick time, working for a number of London Agencies under NDA’s for large clients around the world. Primarily focusing on developing search friendly websites and promoting them using a range of white hat and grey hat techniques. Projects ranges from £3,000 - £100,000 and were extremely successful. Unfortunately, my partners suffered a personal tragedy and lost their focus somewhat. They became obsessed with making quick money via ‘Internet Marketing’. They hired another director and gave him a share in the business tasking him with setting up the IM arm. I believed that too much resource was being pushed into a non-viable business model with a lack of foresight. When I raised this in a board meeting, I was out voted and fearing for my own financial security, handed in my resignation and handed back my shares. With hindsight, this was one of the best decisions that I have made in business, as I was correct believing that there was not enough money in IM to fund a business. I took the role at MPG who were one of our biggest direct clients. Push was wound up less than three months after I left. From August 2008 to September 2009 (1 year 2 months) Website Development Manager @ This small business had only 6 employees, but turned over in excess of £3bn per year. The business was 100% online, and during the good days, we were bringing in 20 new clients per day based entirely on the PPC, SEO and website that I put in place. Whilst this was my first full time role in the industry, the knowledge that I had gained running my freelance business over the previous 5 years made a significant difference to the company. From November 2006 to August 2008 (1 year 10 months) Technical Support Analyst @ Technical Support work on a number of systems related to the recruitment industry. project work on a number of Web Application projects. From April 2006 to November 2006 (8 months) Desktop Support @ Desktop support helping internal staff with IT issues and supporting external clients with online systems. From 2001 to 2003 (2 years) Royal Military Academy From 2001 to 2002 Bachelor of Science (BSc), Business Studies @ The University of Salford From 2001 to 2002 GCSE @ St Ambrose College From 1992 to 1999 Gareth Chidgey is skilled in: Online Marketing, Digital Marketing, WordPress, Digital Strategy, Web Development, Website Development, Email Marketing, Web Design, Conversion Optimization, E-commerce, Account Management, CSS, Web Project Management, New Business Development, Social Media Marketing
