📖 Summary
As the saying goes,"experience is the best teacher" and through my past working experiences in profit and nonprofit accounting, I have developed strong communication and problem solving skills. My interest in financial data analysis, financial data reporting and my attention to details made it an easy decision to pursue a career in accounting. I have enjoyed every experience I have had in my pursuit of this career. The best example was through my accounting internship at Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Ohio (OCAO) where I initially created the company’s chart of accounts by using QuickBooks in order to save time when tracking donations and raised funds. At that time, the company just started to use QuickBooks, and no one had good knowledge of the application. I took the initiative to learn how to use the QuickBooks application. By inquiring from others who had previous Quickbook experience, spending hours on researching information and collaborating with other interns, I successfully launched the application. I am always willing to learn with a positive attitude and also like taking on more responsibility. I believe a higher education can provide the discipline and the core skills needed to prepare tomorrow's leaders with the best future.Being fluent in Chinese and in English languages better prepares me to meet the culture and communication challenges of business globalization. Now, I have been mentally and physically prepared to make my own place in the accounting world and I plan to making it a good one.Accountant @ • Analyzed financial reports monthly and quarterly to review performance, recommending a $9,000 future savings method to management • Audited 100+ customer invoices for account receivable accuracy • Managed 30+ vendor invoices to issue timely payment • Collaborated with supply chain and marketing departments to strategize weekly From October 2011 to March 2013 (1 year 6 months) Full-Charge Bookkeeper @ • Handled over $1.5 million in annual revenue from retail sales and services • Categorized over $30,000 monthly for office expenses in Quickbooks • Reviewed 30 employees’ payroll and prepared payroll taxes for 2 quarters • Arranged, summarized, and calculated monthly sales of up to $100,000 to file state sales tax • Evaluated monthly performance for 30 employees using excel and explained the trends to the partners • Generated financial reports and documents as request by the IRS for random yearly audits From June 2011 to December 2011 (7 months) Columbus, Ohio AreaAccounting Intern @ • Led and developed the charts of accounts by using Quickbooks • Collected and examined up to $15,000 in monthly donations from outside parties • Catalogued 15+ vendor invoices and assisted the treasurer to prepare monthly financial statements • Budgeted and forecasted quarterly performance and proposed changes to the Board of Directors of 15+ • Contributed weekly in operations meetings with other departments of 10+ employees • Raised $50,000+ through gala walk events with marketing, outreach & awareness and education committees From September 2010 to March 2011 (7 months) Accounting Assistant @ • Classified 50+ vendor invoices into specific categories and assisted CPA in preparing financial statements • Conducted inventory counts and corrected flaws in processing inventory, achieving a 5% cost savings From May 2009 to September 2009 (5 months) Master's Degree, Accounting-----Assurance Services Concentration, 3.41 @ University of Texas at Dallas - Naveen Jindal School of Management From 2013 to 2014 Bachelor's Degree, Accounting, 3.66 @ Franklin University From 2008 to 2011 Evan Wang (CPA Candidate) is skilled in: US GAAP, Accounting, Auditing, QuickBooks, Tax, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Microsoft Excel, Leadership, Accounts Payable, Access, Budgets, Microsoft Word, Financial Statements, PowerPoint
