Director/ Writer/ Creator @ Diederik van Rooijen (26-12-75) graduated from The Dutch Film Academy in 2001 with his English spoken film CHALK. Diederik went on directing short films after graduation such as A FUNERAL FOR MR. SMITHEE and BABYPHONED, for which he won the NPS Price for best short film 2002. After that, his Children’s Film ZULAIKA played in the theatres in The Netherlands and went on a worldwide tour. He has been making his mark as a director with televisionseries such as DEADLINE, KEYZER EN DE BOER ADVOCATEN, MEIDEN VAN DE WIT and the explosive crime series PIGS AND PEARLS(Parels en Zwijnen), for which he also was the creative producer. After Diederik finished shorts DUMMY, MASS, DE BODE, GENJI, HET BOZE OOG and EEN TRUI VOOR KIP SAAR, he shot the feature films BOLLYWOOD HERO and STELLA'S WAR (Stella's Oorlog). His popular television series PENOZA and PENOZA II about the Dutch Maffia will continue next year with ten more episodes. For which he is currently shooting. And it's nice to say, has been picked up for remake rights all over the world including ABC. RED WIDOW aired in March in the US. TAPED, a tense thriller featuring actors Barry Atsma and Susan Visser, got picked up for remake rights in the US as well, Red Wagon is producing for Columbia Pictures. Diederik finished a new feature film called DAGLICHT (Daylight) with Eyeworks Film & Television. An adaptation of a popular Dutch thriller written by Marion Pauw. DAGLICHT is currently playing in movie theaters in Holland.
