Assistant Vice President, IT - Network and Data Center Operations @ • Manage all internal and external infrastructure for privately held sporting goods Retail Company. With 2 direct reports (Director and Senior Manager), a team of 13 staff, and acting as a working team member, manage/administrate the Business IT networks (help desk, desktop) as well as the internal corporate network and external infrastructure (server/storage/LAN/WAN) for retail operations. Rebuilding a highly siloed infrastructure without DR or high availability into an integrated, managed and proactive network. Work with CIO to create roadmap, outsourcing network and functions where possible, moving systems to SaaS or cloud based operations and creating/streamlining process/procedure for non-existent or poor developed structure. Restaffed, developed new teams within existing staff and began a high level focus on customer service and high availability. From July 2006 to November 2008 (2 years 5 months) Director, Global Networks and Infrastructure @ Director of Global Networks and Infrastructure for large wine company, hired to unify diverse technical organizations and transition regional network process to global services organization. Defined security and architectural standards using current "best practices" for US, EMEA and Australasia teams, while assisting organizations with deployment principles – deploying BlueCoat and Sourcefire/Snort. Primary focus was network and data centers, concentrating on global application performance on wine systems, EDI, ERP and a, SAP implementation. Chaired Global Infrastructure Group, creating 5 year infrastructure plan, incorporating change and developing ITIL framework guidelines, adapting existing process from EMEA group for a global plan. Added to the supply chain shared services infrastructure by streamlining software purchasing model, developing global licensing plans with key vendors, including Microsoft, adding significant savings with combined purchasing power. Assisted Product Development team in configuration and testing of production and web servers, managed web site, including IP management and load balancing, which required 99.9% uptime. Managed internal LAN environment, standardized on NT servers and desktop environment, creating secure remote access solution via RSA and email via Exchange. Restructured and implemented new operating procedures for Global NOC (US/UK/Asia/Europe - Voice and Data + VOIP), which operated on 24/7 schedules with 15 full time NOC analysts. Server farm included 150+ servers per farm, total of 12 farms, both NT and Novell with Lotus Notes servers, as well as OmniBack and OpenView servers and devices with a large mainframe environment and over 250 global connectivity devices. Manage staff of 15+ LAN analysts. LAN achievements - responsible for migration of end users to NT Workstation, and server farm to NT 4.0 Server migration, as well as migration to cluster servers. Standardized large global desktop environment of 2000 (including UK and Europe), migrating unmanaged Windows 95 desktops to managed NT devices. Created secure remote access solution via RSA for sales teams and traveling users, standardized virus and security features company wide. Responsible for all Local Area Network/Wide Area Network standardization and policies/procedures. Day to day requirements included coordination of engineering and architecture, resource/personnel scheduling, budget/development/reconciliation, hardware/software vendor coordination, and status reporting. Managed server and network data center including facilities management, physical planning, fire protection and electrical systems. Improved LAN uptime by 42%. From February 1997 to February 1999 (2 years 1 month) Program Manager @ Served as Stationary Troubleshooting Coordinator/Project Manager to one of the largest Microsoft Exchange rollouts in history. This deployment covered more than 250 sites, required the installation of over 500 servers, and touched 250,000 desktops. Day to day duties included help desk functions for up to 24 engineers doing installations which included complete server build-up (including Windows NT Server, Exchange 4.0, Seagate Backup Exec, DEC Clustering software), integration into the existing Exchange infrastructure, systems administration training, troubleshooting, client software installation training, and coordination with local site personnel. Help Desk duties also included site troubleshooting, and coordination of engineers providing 24-hour on-site response. In addition, fulfilled Project Management requirements including personnel scheduling, hardware and software coordination, and weekly/bi-weekly status reporting.
