Working in a fast paced restaurant gave me early experience of working under pressure. I quickly became a senior figure bar side managing B2B & client relations and training any new staff which were hired. I enjoyed learning a different cultural approach to management, as well as picking up the basics of the mandarin in my time there. Ni Hao Ma. From September 2008 to June 2014 (5 years 10 months) Student Ambassador @ In the first year of my course I was headhunted into an ambassador role for my university, this paid position within the university was part of my universities outreach programme. My role was to attend local schools and deliver presentations to 6th form pupils who were still going through the process of choosing which university they wished to attend. – A subsidiary role i also played was as a Lancaster University Tour Guide, where I took students around the university showing them the sights and teaching them about the university. From October 2011 to May 2014 (2 years 8 months) Lancaster, United KingdomVice President: Events @ During my time as Vice President I was at the forefront of all major college activity, especially on the events side. •Elected to represent 2000 students in Pendle College, within Lancaster University Students' Union (LUSU). •Work in a team comprising of 14 students which operates all aspects of student life within Pendle College, including events, welfare and sports. •Operate the social sub division of the group, with the two social secretary's. This includes holding meetings and liaising with interested parties that would like to add to Pendle's social scene, such as pub, clubs and other entertainment outlets in the North West. • Organising two off campus trips for the college every term, the past two terms this has been to 5th Avenue night club in Manchester, and media city to watch ITV broadcast shows live. • One of my favourites, running 'Pendle Live' each week. The most popular music night on campus, this involves scouting new acts to play, and making sure each night is sufficiently different from the last to make sure people engage and come back each week! •Being entrusted with a £3000 budget to organise the biggest event of the year for Pendle Colllege students, the yearly (end of academic Extravaganza), attended by 1000 people, which sold its allocated tickets within a minute. - working with talent agents to get the best acts in for the right price (Kidnap Kid, The Crookes), managing a sub-commitee of 10 people as well as the JCR, making sure things ran smoothly on the night (no incidents) and much more! •Sit on Union Council, one of the most important LUSU decision making bodies; sit on College Council, the college's biggest decision making body; and attend University Court, representing the students of Pendle College. •Sat on the Social and Events Council, which collectively decides the cross-campus events for the whole of Lancaster University •Was part of the main 3 person group which was responsible for the running of Freshers Week 2013. From December 2012 to January 2014 (1 year 2 months) Social Secretary @ •Ran ‘Pendle Live’, a bi-weekly live music night. Transformed from a fortnightly, disorganised and unattended event to the largest weekly on-campus event, and the biggest live music night in Lancaster. •Ran a weekly interactive Pub Quiz, the most popular out of all the colleges. (Attendee Wise) •Ran special one-off events, which didn't happen before my time in office. These included charity night for 'Stepping Stones','Youth Music' and 'Comic Relief' and incorporated new ideas such as poetry slams and burlesque nights. •Worked with other colleges’ events teams through weekly meetings, organising various cross-campus events, including Campus Festival. From October 2012 to December 2012 (3 months) Managing Director @ During 6th form I was elected as the managing director of our school Young Enterprise competition, we won most innovative idea, when our stall was located in Kendal Westmorland shopping centre. During the process I was nominated for a national student of the year award.
