In order to do this, I led development of a STEM education strategic plan for the state of Maryland. This work was done collaboratively with partners in local education agencies, institutions of higher education, non-profit foundations, federal agencies, informal STEM education providers, and others. From August 2013 to February 2016 (2 years 7 months) Baltimore, MarylandSenior Policy Advisor, Assistant Director, STEM Education @ White House Office of Science and Technology Policy Executive Office of the PresidentBoard of Trustees @ Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI) From July 2018 to August 2019 (1 year 2 months) Senior Director, High School Aviation Initiative @ AOPA Hasselbring served as the Senior Director for the High School Aviation Initiative at Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association in Frederick, Maryland. In this role, she led high school curriculum development in aviation STEM career and technical education pathways - pilot and UAS. The ninth grade and tenth grade curriculum will be implemented in over 160 high schools during the 2019-20 school year.Cindy managed a high school flight training scholarship program, this program has awarded over $330,000 in scholarships to high school students for flight training in the last three years. Additionally, she led planning for an annual high school aviation STEM symposium, in which over 300 educators participated last year in Louisville, KY in partnership with UPS. This year's event will be held on November 10-12, in Denver, CO at the United Airlines Flight Training Center. From February 2016 to August 2019 (3 years 7 months) Frederick, MarylandAlbert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow @ National Science Foundation (NSF) I served at the National Science Foundation as an Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow in the Office of the Assistant Director. I worked with the Education and Human Resources (EHR) priority and performance goal groups, FC-STEM (Federal Collaboration on STEM Education) committee, FI-STEM (Federal Investments in STEM Education) committee, and the NSF-US Dept. of Education K-16 Mathematics Initiative Project. From September 2011 to July 2012, I specifically worked with the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) in the Education and Human Resources Division (EHR). This program recognizes outstanding math and science educators from all over the United States.Additionally, I worked for the Assistant Director of Education and Human Resources (EHR) from April to July, 2012. In this position, I assisted EHR in conducting the OSTP (White House Office of Science and Technology Policy) STEM inventories for all K-12 STEM Education programs housed at NSF. I worked with our priority and performance goal groups as a "program manager". I served on the Expeditions in Education EHR/MPS working group as a representative of EHR. From September 2011 to July 2013 (1 year 11 months) Arlington, VAMathematics teacher @ Milan High School •Taught Applied Math I and II, Transitional Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, Functions, Statistics, and Trigonometry (FST), Advanced Algebra, and Advanced Placement (AP) Statistics. •Developed and implemented AP Statistics class at Milan High School (2007-2009).•NASA Reduced Gravity Flight Opportunity, March 2008. One of 10 teams selected nationwide to perform an experiment on a reduced gravity flight. Our students helped plan the experiment and made conclusions based on results.•Northrop Grumman’s Weightless Flights of Discovery, Cleveland, OH, September 2006. I performed small experiments to share with my students.•Boys and girls cross country and girls track assistant coach.•District delegate to the Michigan Education Association representative assembly (2006-2010), former union building director (2001-2006), district union executive committee.•Fellowship of Christian Athletes huddle leader. •Co-chair of the block scheduling committee, played a key role in helping my school implement this alternative schedule, provided training to other schools in 2002. •Provided teachers with technology training and support in my district, technology committee member.•Class advisor for five years, worked with students on float building, prom, dances, numerous fundraisers, and graduation activities (2000-2005). •Mentor teacher (2000-2008) to two non-tenured teachers. •Cooperating teacher for student teachers for the fall term in 2003, 2005, and 2007.
