I refactored code in order to reduce dependencies in the Matlab code base for the development team, and wrote unit tests and documented bugs for the Quality Engineering team. Using a combination of scripted and manual edits I incrementally reduced the complexity of Matlab's low-level "services" code that much of the company was dependent on. I worked with a fellow intern to analyze the dependencies of this C/C++ code in order to determine a safe path forward, ultimately resulting in improved unit test coverage and greatly improved build times.
