Software Development Engineer II @ From June 2014 to Present (1 year 7 months) Greater Seattle AreaRisk Analytics Software Developer @ Developed financial software for measuring counterparty credit exposure.
Counterparty credit exposure arises when two financial institutions (banks, hedge funds, etc.) directly trade over the counter derivatives (e.g., swaps, mortgage backed securities, options, forwards, etc.) without using an exchange. Because there is no exchange, the bankruptcy of one of the institutions poses a serious financial risk to the other institution. Improperly measuring counterparty credit exposure played an important role in intensifying the financial crisis of 2008. From January 2011 to November 2012 (1 year 11 months) Risk Application Infrastructure Tester @ Tested software services used by one of RiskMetrics' signature products: RiskManager.
RiskManager allows clients to create and run reports that give them a better understanding of the financial risks associated with their portfolios. From February 2010 to December 2010 (11 months) Software Developer @ Developed software components on the Autonomous Exploration for Gathering Increased Science (AEGIS) project.
AEGIS provides an autonomous target selection capability for the instruments onboard robotic platforms such as the Mars Exploration Rover (MER) Opportunity. The AEGIS algorithm detects the rocks in an image taken by the rover, prioritizes them based on their similarity to geological features specified by scientists on the ground, selects a point on the best match, and takes a follow up measurement using more sophisticated instruments. AEGIS was uploaded to Opportunity in early 2010 and it was awarded NASA Software of the Year in 2011. From June 2008 to October 2009 (1 year 5 months)
