I grew up in a small town in the middle of the beautiful state of Maine. But as I grew up, I realized more and more than it was time for me to get out and explore the world. I worked hard to get into the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University to study broadcast and digital journalism. The program helped me refile my skills as a writer, but as time passed, I realized that my passion was for brands.
I love thinking about brands and how they can leverage the digital space to build relationships with its audiences. I wanted to get a better understanding of this, so I started enrolling in as many social media-focused classes as I could. I was lucky enough to be accepted into the program that brought a handful of students to the Cannes Lions Festival in France, which is where I gained more understanding of both brands and the industry or advertising and PR. Last year, I was selected for a trip to SXSW, which was just as enlightening as Cannes. These experiences have ignited a fire inside me for social media as it relates to giving brands an authentic voice.
Even though this industry wont look the same in a few years, one thing will be constant: relationships matter. I hope to use whatever form the digital space becomes to help brands build meaningful relationships.
I currently intern at Ogilvy working with high-profile clients on community management, social media and digital strategies and research and analytics.
