I'm an product-oriented software developer. I want to have an impact on every stage of products' development, because if you want to provide the highest quality, you have to keep every detail in mind, even if it's not connected to your current task at a first glance.
This is why I prefer to work in relatively small teams, where communication overhead is manageable and one person can actually take responsibility for the final result. Small teams also mean that you have to focus on making quite simple products designed to solve a particular problem really well. And that makes it easier to deliver the best quality.
I particularly enjoy working with graphics and UX designers. Software development is a kind of craft that is really close to art and the more creative people you have around you, the better for you and the product.
Working with clients is also most enjoyable. Nothing better than seeing that what you've done suits their needs. The world really doesn't need more software that's used by nobody.
