I greatly enjoy contributing my experience in developing large-scale data-centric applications and ML data products.
Areas of contribution include: Java, Scala, MapReduce, Spark, graph processing, lambda architectures and reactive frameworks. From March 2013 to Present (2 years 10 months) VP, Data Science – Engineering @ Led applied R&D and SW engineering/development on several strategic, large-scale initiatives at Live Nation/Ticketmaster. Grew and developed engineering teams to solve sophisticated data-centric business needs.
Worked with very large data sets representing complex events and extracted actionable knowledge from them using a broad range of algorithms, computational approaches and SW frameworks.
Designed and implemented innovative machine learning algorithms as the core technology of Ticketmaster marketing and user intent discovery platforms. Developed a new generation of collaborative filtering systems, predictive user response models and computational advertising algorithms.
Key areas of contribution: collaborative filtering, applied machine learning, predictive modeling, user response optimization, linear and convex mathematical programming, user segmentation, marketplace design, yield management, latent response modeling, computational advertising. Developed from the ground-up a large-scale near real-time collaborative filtering system
for content recommendation. Developed latent topic models and predictive models for user engagement. Responsible for overall system architecture, hired, managed and grew the engineering team.
Bootstrapped a completely new R&D group. Responsible for algorithm design across multiple divisions and business domains.
Developed novel algorithms for: 1.) content discovery, 2.) content valuation and content revenue forecasting, 3.) semantic characterization of near-duplicates, 4.) optimization of programmatic supply management in ad exchanges, 5.) optimization of portfolios of SLD’s (Second Level Domains) and pricing for premium of SLD’s for new TLD’s (Top Level Domains).

Essential SW design requirements include high-scalability and high-reliability necessary for a live web-based serving system that supports over one billion requests per day. From April 2005 to March 2008 (3 years) Researcher - Technical Lead @ R&D activities included: development of network traffic models for performance measurement and real-time detection of misconfigurations in LANs and WANs; development of network monitoring and management algorithms for distributed TCP/IP-based architectures. From August 2001 to May 2005 (3 years 10 months) Software Design Engineer @ Multimedia Formats and Media Parsers: responsible for server media parser plug-ins; implemented new generation of parsers; worked on multimedia encoding formats such as the Microsoft ASF (Advanced Streaming Format) V1, ASF V2 and MP3.
