I pride myself on being an analytically minded, yet creative problem solver.
I graduated from the University of Cambridge with a First Class Honours General Engineering degree and a fundamental appreciation of many engineering disciplines, not limited to those inherent of the built environment.
I've gone on to gain design experience working as a Chartered Structural Engineer and design manager for Arup in the UK and Australia, on buildings and infrastructure projects spanning market sectors, and in integrated multi-disciplinary teams.
I have a track record of being an innovative team member and collaborator, identifying novel opportunities in each of construction, design and design delivery. Recognition of these characteristics has led to my involvement on a number of key projects, as well as Arup Design Innovation, BIM, Parametric Modelling and Sustainability initiatives.
In 2013 I chose to take on a new challenge moving to The Institution of Structural Engineers. I worked for a year directly with the Technical Director and members of various task groups to deliver and manage technical services of the Institution to members and the public. The role combined technical tasks with communications, management and research.
Most recently I was invited to rejoin Arup as a member of their advanced technology and research team providing specialist technical design services for both internal and external clients.
Finally, I have lectured at each of Birmingham School of Architecture, Monash University (Melbourne), the University of Melbourne and Bond University (Gold Coast) on topics of civil, structural and architectural engineering. I’ve also sat on local committees for Engineers Australia and The Institution of Structural Engineers.
