Co CEO @ Andy is one of two Gensler Co-CEOs, whose collaborative leadership model sets itself apart in the marketplace as a leading global Design firm through its innovation strategies. Andy oversees Gensler’s global platform and its day-to-day operations, which span 5,000+ people, networked across 47 offices in 16 countries. A champion of design excellence, Andy leads the Board committee responsible for global design innovation initiatives, spearheading design excellence strategies across Gensler’s 31 diverse practice areas.
Andy has been a speaker at many premier industry conferences, including the Urban Land Institute (ULI), Milken Institute Global Conference, Pension Real Estate Association (PREA), and TEDx. Andy is also a Board Member of the UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability, the UC Berkeley Fisher Center for Real Estate & Urban Economics and an active member of World President’s Organization (WPO).
In his role as Co-CEO, Andy is one of the key contributors to what is acknowledged, by its peers to be the most admired and largest architecture firm in the world, pioneering project types and design innovation strategies for the next century. From 1981 to Present (34 years) Board of Directors @ In 2003, Andy was appointed a member of Gensler’s Firmwide Board of Directors. The Board of Directors meets six times a year and is in constant contact to set direction for the firm’s future, guiding the efforts of 1800 professionals in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. From 2003 to 2013 (10 years) Design Steering Committee - Chairman @ In 1989, Andy was appointed to the firmwide Design Leadership Task-Force Committee and served as Chairman from 2001-2004. The Committee, composed of designers from all Gensler offices, monitors and improves the firm’s design product and process through every means possible; including comprehensive critique meetings and weekly project reviews in Gensler offices from coast to coast. From 2001 to 2013 (12 years) Regional Managing Principal @ Andy has grown Gensler’s Southwest region, comprised of offices in Los Angeles, Newport Beach, San Diego, Las Vegas, and Phoenix, to 330 professionals. The multi disciplined and diversified international practice includes design of airports, broadcast media centers, retail, entertainment, hospitality, master and urban planning and corporate campuses. From 1993 to 2013 (20 years) Management Committee @ In 1988, Andy earned a place on Gensler’s Management Committee, a group of 12 leaders that meet quarterly to analyze the current business environment and set policy to guide the firm, including 26 offices worldwide. From 1988 to 2013 (25 years) Vice President @ After four years with the firm Andy was appointed Vice President. Recognized for his ability to inspire and direct designers, while building a loyal client-base, Andy gained additional responsibility as principal-in-charge of projects. Andy was key to the office’s significant growth of staff, projects and receiving more than 25 design awards. From 1985 to 2013 (28 years) Designer @ Invited to join the architectural design group upon graduating from Pratt Institute, Andy assisted in designing numerous civic projects, including airports and convention centers.
