San Francisco Bay AreaEngineering Manager @ Tesla Motors Management For engineering development of interiors for premium vehicles. Key Member of team that developed the Model 3 Interior.Lead a team of engineers to engineer, develop, launch and ramp large portions of the Model X interior.Responsible for Maintaining existing programs to improve design, quality and cost while at he same time developing new projects.Developed Product specifications for all new projects.Led the effort to increase the group staff by 200% over the past 2 years. Lead engineering development for a large portion of the interior trim including the Overhead system, Pillar trim(Including leather wrapped), Trunk Trim, Carpet and Interior Acoustical package for the Model S program (2013 Motor Trend Car of the Year).• Responsible for overseeing a group of 6 design engineers to Design, Develop and Engineer the Interior for the Model S Program. This was accomplished in a fast paced start up environment and presented many challenges to innovate interior components for an all electric vehicle.• Responsible for leading the sourcing of over 50 tools and 100 components to suppliers. This also included program management for all responsible systems. This included meeting all project milestones and deliverables.• Responsible for all aspects of the development process from concept development, design studio release, final data release through vehicle launch. This includes developing engineering systems and helping build an engineering department from 3 people to 21 in less than 24 months.• Responsible for product costs including meeting program targets along with evaluating new technologies to achieve program goals. This also included responsibility for the $8M ED&T budget, along with $4M Prototype budget.• Experience developing and launching a new vehicle platform in a new manufacturing facility.Ensured all development projects are on time and on budget. This includes managing both full time and contract personnel. From October 2010 to October 2016 (6 years 1 month) Fremont, CAProject Engineer @ Nissan Production Engineering Group. Supplier Quality Engineering (advanced Quality). - Lead Engineer on the P42J program. Lead for a group of 4 Engineers that were responsible for the Advanced Part quality for all Trim and Chassis parts. Responsible for training members and ensuring all program deliverables were met. The team was responsible for 78 key suppliers. - Project Engineer for X61F program, responsible for Production Engineering and Advanced Part Quality Engineering. Ensured parts were able to be installed on the assembly line. This included loading and ergonomic studies. In the APQE function I was responsible for CPM, Seats along with several other Exterior and Interior Trim components.-Project Engineer E42D Convertible Top - Advanced Part Quality Engineering, Responsible for developing assembly from Design release through tooling phase and initail vehicle builds. Responsible for developing supplier to ensure all program targets were met.Other projects while at Nissan include. - Vendor tooling lead for P42J (evaluate digital phase design via CAD and make recommendations for design changes to ensurelowest tool cost). - Responsible for DFS (Design for Shipping) for the X61F program. Purpose was to review designs and make recommendations in order to optimize packaging space to reduce shipping costs. From May 2008 to October 2010 (2 years 6 months) Sr Product Engineer @ Lear Corporation - Lead Sr. Engineer - 2011 Grand Cherokee Headliner/Overhead System. Worked on site with Chrysler Engineering and design team through all aspects of digital/design phase. Worked to meet customer demands along with ensuring the design was feasible and met our manufacturing requirements.- Lead Sr. Engineer for the Nissan D42A Headliner/Overhead System. I was responsible for all aspects of design and development from project kickoff, working with the Nissan design studio and engineering, through the tooling and initial builds. Followed the entire project through program launch at the Customer manufacturing facility.- Project Engineer on Nissan XX program. Was responsible for Design and Release for the Headliner, Parcel Shelf, Trunk Trim Pillar Trim, Sunshades and Door Trim. From July 2003 to May 2008 (4 years 11 months) Account Manager/Program Manager @ Oji Intertech Provided technical support of product at customer facilities which included negotiating part rejects.Quoted engineering changes and new business.Managed internal timelines and cross functional reviews to launch new project. Conducted meetings with customers to ensure projects were running on time and on budget. Addressed technical and commercial concerns as needed.
