(Electrical) Controls Engineer @ The Controls Engineer is responsible for applying principles of control engineering application to resolve technical issues and provide consultation/support for CNC machining centers and cylindrical grinders. The Controls Engineer designs and debugs PLC ladder logic for horizontal machining centers (HMCs), vertical machining centers (VMCs), and cylindrical grinders. He or she prepares documentation for option kits, including but not limited to installation instructions, BOM preparation, electrical CAD drawings, logic concepts , and drive parameters. The Controls Engineer communicates with customers by phone and online to diagnose control problems and discuss custom control applications and options. Additionally, he or she supports machinery installations with electrical and control information a s needed. The Controls Engineer travels to job sites to resolve control problems and issues, manages control projects from conception to final implementation. He or she configures and tests PCs for use in material handling automation systems. He or she also travels to customer factories for on-site commissioning of automation systems.
